Specific lobbying for Head Start funding and Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Funding. Worked with House and Senate Appropriations Committees on FY 2024 Labor-HHS Education bill, seeking language to address eligibility issues related to Migrant and Seasonal Head Start.
Worked with the Administration of Children and Families and the Office of Head Start to ensure that the unique needs of Migrant and Seasonal Head Start programs and farmworker families are met. Worked with House and Senate on FY 2024 Budget; specifically with House and Senate Education committees to ensure language addressed specific needs of farmworker families as the committee looked to increase investments in childcare and early education programs.
To amend the Community Development Banking and Financial Institutions Act of 1994 to reauthorize and improve the community development financial institutions bond guarantee program, and for other purposes. Supported and educated policymakers on S. 869 - the CDFI Bond Guarantee Program Improvement Act of 2023 introduced by Senator Tina Smith (D-MN) on March 16, 2023.
Encouraged House and Senate Small Business Committee leadership to support the SBA Community Advantage (CA) pilot and legislation that would codify the CA pilot as a permanent SBA program under 7(a). Engaged Small Business Administration and their Office of Capital Access on the needs of underserved small businesses, particularly those that are unbanked or underbanked, and minority-owned and women-owned businesses.
Worked to educate and engage members of the House Financial Services Committee, Senate Banking Committee, House Small Business Committee, and the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship on the importance of access to responsible financing for small businesses, truth in lending protections, and transparency.
