Met with staffers from Chuy Garcia (30 mins), Sean Casten (30 mins), Nikki Budzinski (30 mins) and Dick Durbin (30 mins) on March 6 to discuss university technology transfer and research.
Meetings Senator Richard Durbin, and two of his staff (Max Kanner and SueEllen Wilk). Omar Ibarra, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinskis staff Met with members of the White House Gender Policy Council and the White House Domestic Policy Council. Each meeting was 1 hour long. We addressed issues related to gender equity and womens health.
Participated in "Hill Day" on March 25, 2024, with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. We visited the offices of Senators Duckworth and Durbin and House Representatives Robin Kelly, Bill Foster, Mike Bost, and Danny Davis. The purpose was to garner support for Title VIII, the FAAN Act, and to support higher education policy.
Letters of support were sent to Senator Durbin and Senator Duckworth regarding project funding for the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville nursing simulation and interdisciplinary laboratory equipment at the SIUE Health Science Complex. Letters of support were sent to Senator Durbin and Senator Duckworth for funding to repair and repurpose the SIU Dental Facility in Edwardsville (SIUE) to expand care for Pediatric and Special Care Dentistry. Letters of support were sent to Senator Durbin and Senator Duckworth for consideration under the congressional spending appropriation program. (5) projects were submitted for consideration. 1. Funding for SIU Center for Professional Development and Workplace Equity Incubator and Research Expansion. 2. Funding to advance SIU School of Medicine's new medical education building 3. Funding to support the centralization of SIU School of Medicine's Neuroscience Institute and its related programs 4. Funding to upgrade the facilities at the Simmons Cancer Institute 5.Funding to renovate laboratory facilities at 911 N. Rutledge location
