Airlines - TCU assisted the International Association of Machinists and Flight Attendants Union in asking Members of Congress to urge a Delta Airlines agree to remain neutral as their employees are organizing.
Precision Scheduled Railroading - TCU communicated with Congress, the Federal Railroad Administration, the Department of Transportation, and the Surface Transportation Board to register our ongoing concerns with safety and service issues tied to the Class 1 freight railroads' operating model"Precision Scheduled Railroading." This includes pressures applied to mechanical and intermodal craft employees, resignations, and resulting overall supply chain issues. Rail Safety - TCU routinely communicates with Congress and the Administration with regards to rail safety issues as it pertains to our members, including regulations regarding brake and mechanical inspections, as well as operational concerns. Truck Size and Weight - TCU communicated to Congress our continued opposition to any increases in the federal limits on truck sizes or weights.TCU opposes this for both safety and competitive reasons. Rail Safety - TCU routinely communicates with Congress and the Federal Railroad Administration with regards to rail safety issues as it pertains to our members, including regulations regarding brake and mechanical inspections, as well as operational concerns. S.576 - Railway Safety Act of 2023 - TCU communicated with Senate offices in support of the legislation as it pertains to rail car inspections. Truck Size and Weight - TCU communicated to Congress our continued opposition to any increases in the federal limits on truck sizes or weights.TCU opposes this for both safety and competitive reasons. RRB - TCU regularly communicates with the Railroad Retirement Board and Congress regarding various issues facing our members, including retirement benefits, funding issues, IT modernization efforts, sickness and disability, and unemployment. REEF Act - TCU advocates to the House and Senate in support of the Railroad Employee Equity and Fairness (REEF) Act, which would remove railroad unemployment and sickness benefits from the list of programs subject to budget sequestration (see HR 2785/S.1274).
RRB - TCU regularly communicates with the Railroad Retirement Board and Congress regarding various issues facing our members, including retirement benefits, funding issues, IT modernization efforts, sickness and disability. TCU advocated to Congress about increasing RRB's appropriations amount to the agency requested level. REEF Act - TCU advocates to the House and Senate in support of the Railroad Employee Equity and Fairness (REEF) Act, which would remove railroad unemployment and sickness benefits from the list of programs subject to budget sequestration (see HR 2785/S.1274). TCU Advocated for it's inclusion as an amendment to the FY25 NDAA.
