(H.R. 529) - The Protecting Sensitive Locations Act - Expressed support for the Protecting Sensitive Locations Act. This legislation would codify the previous and longstanding guidance into law, prohibiting immigration enforcement actions by officers or agents at or within 1,000 feet of healthcare facilities such as hospitals, community health centers, and accredited health clinics. The protections in the bill also would extend to educational and social service facilities as well as places of worship, among others.
(H.R. 5856) The Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2023. Expressed support for the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2023. This legislation would help prevent re-exploitation of trafficking survivors and facilitate their integration or reintegration into society through social services and award trafficking prevention education grants to organizations that work to protect children from labor trafficking, sexual exploitation, and abuse.
Urged Congress to enact legislation that provides permanent protections for Dreamers who came to the U.S. as children, built their lives here, and are American in every way except for their immigration status.
Urged the Administration to abandon any effort to detain families in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities and urged the Department of Homeland Security to utilize immigration enforcement practices with the presumption that detention is generally neither appropriate nor necessary for families or children. Urged Congress to enact legislation that provides permanent protections for Dreamers who came to the U.S. as children, built their lives here, and are American in every way except for their immigration status. Their contributions to the U.S. health and biomedical workforce are invaluable, particularly to the individual patients they serve on a daily basis but are threatened by judicial uncertainty and regulatory impermanence.
