Issues related to the FY-2025 President's Budget Request (PBR), released in March 2024, as it impacts the USMMA through the Congressional appropriations process. Issues related to authorization and appropriation of funding for USMMA in FY-2025 that would fund a multi-year, comprehensive modernization of the USMMA Campus infrastructure and related facilities. Issues related to enhancing USMMA Sea Year training aboard US flag commercial vessels by increasing the number of vessels available for cadet training. Issues related to stressing the importance of the Strategic Sealift Officers (SSO) Force and the fact that USMMA graduates make up over 80% of this Force. Issues related to the USMMA Congressional Board of Visitors, including Campus infrastructure rehabilitation, maintenance and repair, and Sea Year training. Issues related to EMBARC (Every Mariner Builds a Respectful Culture) and seeking to expand EMBARC to cover all maritime cadets and ships. Issues related to the education of Members of Congress and their staff regarding the need to adequately fund and maintain the USMMA, the nation's only federal maritime service academy, to graduate obligated, licensed mariners in support maritime-related national security objectives
