NATIONAL PORK PRODUCERS COUNCIL

Educate Members and the Administration about the pork supply chain and monitor the impact of PL 117-216; advocate for pork producers due to economic harm from supply chain and other market disruptions; educate policymakers about emerging infectious diseases in the pork industry and monitor the Farm Bill reauthorization process, including the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024 (H.R. 8467) and the Rural Prosperity and Food Security Act (Senate draft), including the importance of farm bill-related animal health programs. Monitor and advise on policy developments pertaining to market oversight and competition matters, including the Administrations Executive Order on Promoting Competition in the American Economy, Packers and Stockyards regulation, and relevant legislative efforts. Monitor USDA FSIS swine modernization efforts.

Monitor international trade proposals and their impact on U.S. pork production.

Monitor policy discussion on agricultural labor, including reforms to the H2A program, and educate members on its impact to the pork industry.

Monitor policy discussions on sustainability in agriculture.
