CSP - Consumer Issues/Safety/Products: NFDA works with relevant federal departments/agencies and Congress to support and/or advocate for legislation, rules and regulations that ensure the consensual donation and respectful disposition of human bodies and non-transplantable human body parts donated for education, research, and the advancement of medical, dental and mortuary science for research purposes. The Consensual Donation & Research Integrity (CDRI) Act

Environmental Health & Safety: NFDA works with relevant federal departments/agencies and Congress to support and/or advocate for legislation, rules and regulations that address environmental health and safety issues related to funeral directors and the operation of funeral homes and crematories. Specifically, EPA and OSHA issues affecting funeral service, including issues related to formaldehyde exposure and use in embalming and the EPA TSCA Risk Evaluation.

Federal Trade Commission: NFDA works with relevant federal departments/agencies and Congress to support and/or advocate for legislation, rules and regulations regarding the FTC Funeral Rule and other FTC rules and regulations impacting funeral service.

Health issues: NFDA works with relevant federal departments/agencies and Congress to support and/or advocate for legislation, rules and regulations to designate funeral expenses as qualified expenses for an HSA, this would allow the beneficiary to use the proceeds in the decedents HSA to pay for funeral expenses tax-free.

Improve Funeral and Burial Benefits for Veterans and their Families: NFDA works with relevant federal departments/agencies and Congress to support legislation, rules and regulations that improve funeral and burial benefits for Veterans and their families.
