Engage with Congress to socialize the need for, and benefits of, deploying unmanned and remotely operated oceanographic research vessels and other platforms to conduct oceanic and coastal research, survey and inspection work, and further, to secure enactment of legislation to authorize the U.S. Coast Guard to implement a 5-year pilot program to allow the regulated use of such systems as a precursor before development of a regulatory framework.
